Water Droplets on Yellow Aconites

On a wet day in February I took this picture of some very small, bright yellow flowers poking up through the fallen autumn leaves. These aconites were yet to open, but looking at the weather, who can blame them? The sharp, contrasting colours are truly spectacular - red leaves, brown leaves, green leaves, yellow flowers.

This was on the Winter Garden Walk at Anglesey Abbey, a few miles north west of Cambridge. The rain had been falling all day, and the droplets covered every flower, and its leaves. Each drop is acting like a very small lens, refracting light from behind it.
